I’ve been quiet lately. I’ve been\u00a0processing since my return from a conference and the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.<\/p>\n

I’ve been thinking the three C’s:\u00a0Christians, Conferences and Churches.\u00a0I realize in all three,\u00a0people hide behind a masks.<\/p>\n

I remember learning the waltz once. I believe it was when I was attending acting school years ago.\u00a0I didn’t find it difficult to learn.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The steps are repetitive and\u00a0monotous, around and around you go…\u00a0<\/p>\n

As with any dance,\u00a0there must be\u00a0proper form. The traditional waltz is both elegant and dull.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Christians seem to like to\u00a0masquerade and dance the waltz. We seem to like to hide and go around in circles.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Much like the Israelites did\u00a0in the desert, never entering in and\u00a0reaching the promise land.\u00a0<\/p>\n

I can just see God looking down and thinking, “There they go, masquerading and dancing the waltz again.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

I don’t know Lord, I honestly don’t know… but I agree,\u00a0the waltz is whack and the whole masquerade thing is\u00a0played out if you ask me.\u00a0It’s got no swagga,\u00a0no flow or flava…\u00a0<\/p>\n

We’re just dancing in circles like a bunch of lost robots with plastered smiles on our faces…\u00a0meanwhile\u00a0we’re dying inside.\u00a0<\/p>\n

I don’t know about you, but when I walk into a room full of Christians whether at a church or conference, it seems I can\u00a0feel the weight of their pain and hurt behind their smiles.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Everyone looks good on the outside; make-up’s perfect, hair and nails did, matching Gucci bag and shoes, a\u00a0fashionable hat even… ohhhh and that smile, that same smile I see time and time again… The smile with hurting eyes…\u00a0<\/p>\n

Their smiles say one thing, while their eyes say another. Switching their gaze away quickly, lest anyone finds out.\u00a0The truth.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

We are so afraid to be found out and exposed. So afraid to be seen for who and what we are.\u00a0<\/p>\n

So we just\u00a0carry on,\u00a0dancing the waltz\u00a0and hiding\u00a0behind our masks…\u00a0smiling whilst our hearts cry and souls die.\u00a0<\/p>\n

All\u00a0for the Masquerade.\u00a0<\/p>\n
