There are times I feel trapped, bogged down with responsibilities and obligations.<\/p>\n

There are people I love who are depending on me. I can’t let them down. I can’t make a mistake.<\/p>\n

We need an income to keep a roof over our head, food in our stomachs and clothing on our backs.<\/p>\n

Lately, I’ve been thinking about how much of my time is given to a corporation. How my life really isn’t my own. How my time is given in exchange for a paycheck.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t get me wrong, I am grateful for a\u00a0good job. I’m not complaining.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m just facing where I’m at in life.\u00a0Who knows, I may even be going through a midlife crisis.<\/p>\n

I’ve been ruminating on past regrets. In that, I\u00a0chose a steady\u00a0income instead of pursuing my dream.<\/p>\n

Granted, things could be worse (and they have been).<\/p>\n

However, there are those whom are not afforded the ability to ruminate, because all they do is work to feed their kids, barely making ends meet.<\/p>\n

So\u2026 in the grand scheme of things, I am considered blessed.<\/p>\n

But right now, I’m not talking about my\u00a0job, I’m\u00a0talking about\u00a0a dream.<\/p>\n

My friend Andi Cumbo wrote a thought provoking blog post entitled \u201cTo Quit or Not to Quit<\/a>\u201d which sparked this post.<\/p>\n

A long time ago, I quit acting and singing. Why? For the very same reason I mentioned above. A job. A steady paycheck.<\/p>\n

I\u00a0sold out\u00a0and forfeited my dream for the illusion of security. I can’t express how bad of a decision that was.<\/p>\n

Which is why I\u2019m proactive in\u00a0reminding my\u00a0sons\u00a0to\u00a0pursue their dreams and do something they love.<\/p>\n

If you do what you love, then you don\u2019t mind working twelve hour days. You will be investing your time doing\u00a0something you believe in and are called to do.<\/p>\n

This goes beyond simply\u00a0working to get\u00a0a paycheck.<\/p>\n

When you work a conventional job, there are\u00a0no guarantees. You can be there today and gone tomorrow. You can be offered benefits one day and then it be taken away the next.<\/p>\n

In this day and age, you can\u2019t invest in a job\u00a0or put\u00a0all your eggs in one basket.<\/p>\n

You need to invest in yourself and in your dream. Dreams come from God.<\/p>\n

When you work toward a dream, it\u2019s yours for keeps. No one can mess with it or\u00a0take it away, unless you let them.<\/p>\n

So yes, I live with regrets and admit I\u2019ve made some pretty bad mistakes. But does that mean it’s over for me?\u00a0Should\u00a0I\u00a0just\u00a0give up,\u00a0throw in the towel and call it a day?<\/p>\n

No, I\u2019ve already done that, and all for the wrong reasons I might add.<\/p>\n

I’ve made some mistakes, so what, you’ve\u00a0probably made some too. We all do. But should that mean it’s\u00a0the end of the world?<\/p>\n

This is not\u00a0our final chapter in\u00a0the big\u00a0book called life.<\/p>\n

I feel like God is giving me\u00a0a second chance\u00a0\u2026 so I\u2019m priming up for 2013.<\/p>\n

I may have given up in the past, but I\u2019m not now. I\u2019m going full steam ahead, no matter what.<\/p>\n
