{"id":840,"date":"2012-08-15T10:01:59","date_gmt":"2012-08-15T14:01:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ordinaryservant.com\/?p=840"},"modified":"2012-08-15T10:02:40","modified_gmt":"2012-08-15T14:02:40","slug":"will-you-say-yes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.ordinaryservant.com\/?p=840","title":{"rendered":"Will You Say &#8220;Yes&#8221;?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I am participating in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.danapittman.com\/small-groups\/blogging-through-the-book\/\">Blogging\u00a0 Through the Book<\/a>: <em>The Gospel of Yes<\/em> by Pastor Mike Glenn.\u00a0 This series was birthed by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.danapittman.com\/\">Dana Pittman<\/a>, who is an amazing\u00a0 writer and speaker.\u00a0 I am honored to be partnering with her and her amazing team of writers.\u00a0 Every Wednesday we will be blogging our thoughts and insights from this book.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;All of us are broken.\u00a0 And accepting God&#8217;s mercy in Christ does not magically repair the shattered pieces of life.&#8221; ~ Mike Glenn<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ordinaryservant.com\/?attachment_id=846\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-846\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-846\" title=\"449685896_b47d0829e8_m\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ordinaryservant.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/449685896_b47d0829e8_m.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"179\" height=\"240\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">This quote is taken from the chapter entitled, &#8220;The &#8216;Yes&#8217; of the Cross.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">To be honest, I had difficulty reading this chapter. Don&#8217;t get me wrong, it&#8217;s a great and meaty chapter. However, truth has a way of barging into places you&#8217;d rather keep shut.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><em>Truth has a way of breaking us.\u00a0<\/em> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In John 14:6, Jesus said, I am the way, the truth and the life. When the truth pierces the darkness, lies are exposed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><em>Your soul is left naked.\u00a0<\/em> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I guess that&#8217;s how Adam and Eve felt after they ate the forbidden fruit. Eve fell for the lie and\u00a0 brought Adam down with her. Next thing you know, they are running for cover.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><em>There are things we&#8217;d rather keep hidden.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">If you&#8217;ve walked on this earth long enough, there will be situations you&#8217;ll want to forget and wish never happened.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We all wish we had the ability to go back in time and do things differently. However, this is impossible.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><em>Shame and guilt hound us and we continue to run.<\/em> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Jesus doesn&#8217;t want us to run or hide in shame anymore. He wants to expose every broken place in our lives.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em><strong>He wants to heal us.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">But, He isn&#8217;t going to force it on us. He is a gentlemen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Once we receive Him into our hearts and lives, we are His. We are no longer our own. We were bought with a price.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">He doesn&#8217;t want us remaining as we are. He doesn&#8217;t want us trapped in bondage. He doesn&#8217;t want us believing the lies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em><strong>He doesn&#8217;t want us living shattered lives.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Jesus is the redeemer of our souls. He wants to reach down into those dark crevices of our hearts and heal us. Those ugly places we want to hide and pretend don&#8217;t exist.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">&#8220;But from start, healing work occurs on the inside. In time, seeds planted in secret by God&#8217;s Spirit will blossom into the harvest of a radically changed life.\u00a0 Right now, however, at least on the surface, nothing will seem to have changed.\u00a0 Even with Christ in us and with us, the hard circumstances of life are still there, staring us in the eyes.\u00a0 That&#8217;s because Jesus isn&#8217;t changing the situation but the person.&#8221; (Chapter 5, Pages 68-69)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">God wants to do spiritual surgery.\u00a0 He wants to set us free.\u00a0 He longs to make us whole.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Will you say &#8220;yes&#8221; to the Cross?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ordinaryservant.com\/?attachment_id=826\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-826\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-826 alignleft\" title=\"Blogging-Through-the-Book\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ordinaryservant.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Blogging-Through-the-Book.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"126\" height=\"126\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.ordinaryservant.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Blogging-Through-the-Book.jpg 500w, http:\/\/www.ordinaryservant.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Blogging-Through-the-Book-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.ordinaryservant.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/Blogging-Through-the-Book-300x300.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 126px) 100vw, 126px\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.danapittman.com\/small-groups\/blogging-through-the-book\/\">Blogging Through the Book<\/a> is a group of bloggers who literally blog while reading the book.
